Our Outcomes
Prevention Works for a Drug Free Fairfield County is very proud of its successes in reducing substance abuse among our community’s youth.
- We contributed to a 6.7% decrease in frequent alcohol use among Fairfield County twelfth graders, down from 37.9% in 2004 to 35.6% in 2006 to 31.2% in 2008.
- Between 2004 and 2008, frequent marijuana use dropped from 18.8% to 15.8% in Fairfield County twelfth graders.
- Fairfield County youth initiating the use of alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and prescription drugs are now older than ever before delaying the age of first use.
This trend is important since the longer use is delayed; the less likely the individual is to become harmfully involved with substances as they grow older.
