Frequently Asked Questions
What services do you offer families?
Help Me Grow is a child development program for expectant moms in their 3rd trimester, infants and toddlers under age 3 years. We provide health and developmental services, as well as a transition component in order to help parents and their 3 year olds make a smooth entry into school. Our program provides that little extra support needed to families during a crucial time of development for their young child. The following services are also provided by Help Me Grow: family support services (Family Support Specialist on hand), Service Coordination (each family has their own Service Coordinator), Parent Education, and Early Intervention Services for those children who have a diagnosed medical condition or developmental delay.
Do you offer playgroups?
We offer reguarly scheduled playgroups for all children in the program.
Can you briefly discuss eligibility criteria?
When a family is referred to Help Me Grow, a Service Coordinator visits the family in their home and assesses their child(ren) to get an idea of what the child and family’s needs are. At a later date our developmental evaluators visit the family to evaluate the child in all areas of development in order to provide a clinical decision on whether the child qualifies for early intervention or specialized therapies, etc. The child may also qualify for Help Me Grow based on risk factors that the family is experiencing.
Explain the intake process once Help Me Grow receives a referral.
Once our Central Intake Specialist receives a referral for a child, she contacts the family by phone call in order to gather pertinent information to register the family for an intake visit by a Service Coordinator.
Who do we call to refer families?
To refer a family one should call our main number: (740) 681-4881, and ask to speak to the Central Intake Specialist.
How long can a customer receive services from your agency?
A child can remain in Help Me Grow until they turn 3 years of age.
How is your agency funded?
Help Me Grow is funded by the Ohio Department of Health/Federal Government, Bureau of Early Intervention Services, Ohio Help Me Grow Program, and is administered through the Fairfield County Family, Adult & Children First Council.
